Delete Your Muraji Account

Last updated: August 13, 2026

This page explains how to request deletion of your Muraji account and the data associated with it. Muraji is a Quran memorization and revision app, available on the web at murajiapp.com and as a mobile app.

Delete Your Account in the App

You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from inside Muraji:

  1. Sign in to Muraji on the web or in the mobile app.
  2. Open Settings from the menu.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
  4. Type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete forever.

Your account and data are deleted immediately. This cannot be undone.

If You Are a Student in a Class

If your teacher or parent created your account for you, you will not see the Delete Account option while you are still in a class, because the account is part of your teacher's records. You have two ways to remove it:

  • Ask your teacher or parent to remove you from the class. They can delete your account permanently from their dashboard.
  • Or open Settings and add your own email address to your account. It then becomes your own ordinary Muraji account, and the Delete Account option appears.

A parent can also email us at privacy@murajiapp.com to have a child's account deleted, whoever created it.

If You Cannot Sign In

If you are locked out of your account, email privacy@murajiapp.com from the address on the account, with the subject line Delete my account. If you sign in with a username instead of an email address, include your username. We will delete the account within 30 days and confirm by email.

What Gets Deleted

When we delete your account, we permanently delete:

  • Your account and login credentials
  • Your name and email address
  • Your memorization and review history, including difficulty ratings, streaks, and progress data
  • Your app preferences, reminder settings, and push notification tokens

If you are a teacher or a parent. Deleting your account also deletes the classroom or family group you own, including its classes, assignments, and announcements. Your students are not deleted with you: because those accounts belong to the students themselves, each one is kept and given 14 days to add their own email address, which turns it into an ordinary individual Muraji account with their memorization history intact. A student account that is not claimed within 14 days is permanently deleted.

If you have an active subscription, it is cancelled automatically when you delete your account. A subscription bought through the App Store or Play Store must also be cancelled there, as those stores do not allow us to cancel it for you.

What We Keep

After deletion we keep nothing that identifies you, with one exception: records of payments and subscriptions are retained by our payment providers (Stripe on the web, and Apple or Google for in-app purchases) where tax and accounting law requires them to be kept. We never receive or store your card details.

Backups are rotated on a rolling basis, so a copy of deleted data may persist in an encrypted backup for a short period after deletion before being overwritten.

Deleting Some Data Without Deleting Your Account

Teachers and parents can delete an individual student's account, along with that student's review history, directly from their classroom or family dashboard, without deleting their own account. A teacher or parent may also archive a student instead: an archived student keeps their data but can no longer sign in, and can be permanently deleted later at any time.

If you are a parent and want a child's data deleted, contact us at privacy@murajiapp.com and we will act on your request even if the account was created by a teacher.
